God calls us to\u00a0speak<\/strong>, not from mere self-control, but from hearts\u00a0transformed by the Spirit<\/strong>\u2014so our words impart grace and draw people to Jesus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      • Gallio (Acts 18)<\/strong>\u00a0\u2014 proconsul (and Seneca\u2019s brother) models detached judgment; yet the\u00a0gospel<\/strong>\u2014not philosophy\u2014changes communities.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • Social witness:<\/strong>\u00a0Next-door church (Justus) + gracious conduct influences even synagogue leaders.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • Modern parallel:<\/strong>\u00a0Our\u00a0social media<\/strong>\u00a0is a microphone\u2014let it mirror\u00a0Christ\u2019s grace<\/strong>, not outrage.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

        5) Our Message <\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

        1. When Jesus says, \u201cDo not be afraid;\u00a0keep on speaking<\/strong>,\u201d what\u00a0good news<\/strong>\u00a0about Him should be most audible in your context this week (work, home, online)?<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        2. If someone only read your last 10 posts\/texts, what\u00a0gospel<\/strong>\u00a0would they infer you believe (about God, people, hope, enemies, justice, grace)?<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        3. Paul shifted from the synagogue to a house\u00a0next door<\/strong>. Where might God be inviting you to move your message\u00a0one door closer<\/strong>\u2014from church walls to everyday spaces?<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        4. How can you present Jesus to people who\u00a0don\u2019t share your background<\/strong>\u00a0(as Paul did with Gentiles)\u2014what starting points (creation, love, justice, meaning) connect best?<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        5. In seasons of resistance (\u201cyour blood be on your own heads\u201d), how do you discern when to\u00a0persist<\/strong>, when to\u00a0pivot<\/strong>, and how to\u00a0leave a blessing<\/strong>\u00a0behind?<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

          6) Our Conduct <\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n
            \n
          1. Which recent conversation of yours\u00a0imparted grace<\/strong>\u00a0(Eph. 4:29)? Which did the opposite? What made the difference\u2014tone, timing, truth, tenderness?<\/li>\n\n\n\n
          2. Justus\u2019s proximity and\u00a0good neighborliness<\/strong>\u00a0opened doors for Crispus. What\u00a0neighbor habits<\/strong>\u00a0(parking, noise, kindness, invitations) preach before your words do?<\/li>\n\n\n\n
          3. When criticized or misunderstood, do you default to\u00a0Stoic suppression<\/strong>\u00a0or\u00a0Spirit-led transformation<\/strong>? What responses reveal what\u2019s truly in your heart (Luke 6:45)?<\/li>\n\n\n\n
          4. Where might a careless comment have wounded someone (immigration, politics, culture)? What does genuine\u00a0repair<\/strong>\u00a0look like: confession, listening, restitution, new practice?<\/li>\n\n\n\n
          5. If your speech is a \u201cmirror of the heart<\/strong>,\u201d what heart-level desires (approval, control, resentment) is God inviting you to surrender so your words become healing?<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

            7) Practical Application <\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n
              \n
            1. Daily \u201cBehold & Bless\u201d (10 minutes):<\/strong>\u00a0Read one gospel scene; ask the Spirit to\u00a0form Christ\u2019s heart<\/strong>\u00a0in you; send one\u00a0blessing message<\/strong>\u00a0(text\/post\/note) that builds up someone specifically.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
            2. Rule of Speech (weeklong):<\/strong>\u00a0Before posting\/speaking, ask:\u00a0True? Necessary? Gracious? Timely?<\/strong>\u00a0If any \u201cno,\u201d\u00a0rewrite<\/strong>\u00a0or\u00a0refrain<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
            3. Next-Door Mission:<\/strong>\u00a0Identify your \u201cJustus\u2019s house<\/strong>\u201d space (porch, break room, Zoom, cafeteria). Plan one\u00a0gentle spiritual conversation<\/strong>\u00a0or invitation this week.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
            4. Repair & Reconcile:<\/strong>\u00a0If the Spirit brings to mind a hurtful word,\u00a0own it<\/strong>\u00a0by name,\u00a0apologize<\/strong>, and ask, \u201cHow can I make this right?\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n
            5. Testimony Card (2 minutes):<\/strong>\u00a0Prepare a 3-sentence story:\u00a0Before Christ\u2026<\/em>\u00a0\/\u00a0Jesus met me when\u2026<\/em>\u00a0\/\u00a0Now He\u2019s teaching me to\u2026<\/em>\u00a0Use it when God opens a door.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
            6. Social Media Tithe:<\/strong>\u00a0Dedicate\u00a010%<\/strong>\u00a0of your posts to\u00a0explicit witness<\/strong>\u00a0(Scripture, answered prayer, service highlight, invitation),\u00a00%<\/strong>\u00a0to contempt.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

              8) Personal Commitment <\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

              1. Where am I\u00a0silent<\/strong>\u00a0out of fear, and what precise promise of Jesus (Acts 18:9\u201310) will I carry into that space?<\/li>\n\n\n\n
              2. Do I want the\u00a0appearance<\/strong>\u00a0of holiness (self-control) more than the\u00a0presence<\/strong>\u00a0of Christ (transformation)? What practice of\u00a0beholding<\/strong>\u00a0will I guard daily?<\/li>\n\n\n\n
              3. Whose name comes to mind as my \u201cmany in this city<\/strong>\u201d (Acts 18:10)? Will I pray for them by name and take\u00a0one step<\/strong>\u00a0toward them this week?<\/li>\n\n\n\n
              4. What topic triggers ungracious speech in me (politics, family, lifestyle)? What\u00a0Spirit-led limit<\/strong>\u00a0or\u00a0accountability<\/strong>will I embrace?<\/li>\n\n\n\n
              5. What sentence will I choose as my\u00a0signature sentence<\/strong>\u00a0this week that others will hear\/see from me? (e.g., \u201cJesus has been kind to me\u2014how can I pray for you?\u201d)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

                9) For Further Study<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

                • Read\u00a0Acts 18<\/strong>\u00a0alongside\u00a01\u20132 Corinthians<\/strong>\u00a0to trace how Corinth\u2019s beginnings shaped Paul\u2019s counsel on speech, love, and edification.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
                • Contrast\u00a0Stoic moralism<\/strong>\u00a0with\u00a0New-Covenant transformation<\/strong>: Romans 7\u20138; 2 Corinthians 3; Galatians 5:16\u201326; James 3 (the tongue).<\/li>\n\n\n\n
