Scripture: Romans 12:1-2, 4-9
Pastor Jeff Kern
1. Main Theme:
The glory of God is revealed in our transformation and service. As we open our hearts to God, He transforms us into living sacrifices, shaping our lives for His purpose. This transformation leads us to serve others in humility, using the gifts He has given us.
2. Key Sermon Points:
A. Transformation Through God’s Glory (Romans 12:1-2)
• Paul urges believers to present their bodies as a living sacrifice—holy and acceptable to God.
• We should not conform to the world but be transformed by the renewing of our minds.
• This transformation proves what is good, acceptable, and perfect according to God’s will.
B. Humility in Service (Romans 12:3-5)
• The Jewish tradition teaches that humility brings us closer to God’s glory.
• Pride separates us from God, while humility allows transformation.
• As part of one body in Christ, each believer has a unique role and function.
C. Using Spiritual Gifts in Service (Romans 12:6-8)
• God distributes gifts according to His grace.
• We are called to use our gifts:
• Teaching – Teach with faithfulness.
• Encouraging – Inspire others.
• Giving – Do it with generosity.
• Leading – Lead with diligence.
• Showing mercy – Do it with joy.
• Natural abilities and spiritual gifts both come from God and should be used for His glory.
D. Love as the Foundation of Service (Romans 12:9-21)
• Love must be genuine, without hypocrisy.
• Hate what is evil; cling to what is good.
• Overcome evil with good, showing Christ-like character.
• Without love, all spiritual gifts are meaningless (1 Corinthians 13:1-2).
3. Our Message:
• The glory of God is manifested when we serve with love and humility.
• Spiritual gifts are given for the edification of the Church, not personal gain.
• A true Christian is identified by their transformation and how they treat others.
4. Our Conduct:
• Are we allowing God’s transformation in our lives?
• Do we serve with humility, recognizing that all gifts come from God?
• Are we loving and serving others selflessly?
5. Practical Application:
1. Identify Your Gift – What gifts has God given you? Are you using them for His glory?
2. Practice Humility – How can you serve others without seeking recognition?
3. Show Christ’s Love – How do you treat others, especially those who are different from you?
6. Personal Commitment Questions:
• Am I fully surrendered to God as a “living sacrifice”?
• How can I actively serve in my church and community?
• What steps can I take to love and serve others without hypocrisy?
• Am I willing to embrace transformation, even if it means stepping out of my comfort zone?
7. Prayer Points:
1. Lord, help me to surrender fully to Your transforming power and be a living sacrifice for Your glory.
2. Grant me humility in my service, that I may use my gifts to build up the body of Christ selflessly.
3. Fill my heart with genuine love so that I may reflect Your glory through my words and actions.
This sermon reminds us that the glory of service is found in a transformed life, dedicated to serving God and others with love. May we seek to reflect God’s glory in all we do! 🙏
